January-August vehicle production in Kazakhstan up 24.7% year-on-year
International Business News – In August this year, 9,016 vehicles were produced in Kazakhstan, which is 14.7% more than in the same period last year, according to the Kazakhstan Automobile Business Association. From January to August this year, 68,644 vehicles were produced in Kazakhstan, with a total value of over 693 billion tenge and a 24.7% increase in production compared to the same period last year.
In January-August 2022, all of Kazakhstan produced 62,543 passenger cars, 4,811 trucks, 712 buses, 396 trailers and semi-trailers, and 182 units of other equipment.
The SaryarkaAvtoProm automobile plant in Kostanay region produced 4,260 vehicles in January-August (+28.3%) with a value of 356.9 billion tenge. The Hyundai Motor Plant in Almaty produced 22,100 passenger cars (+30.8%) with a total value of 299.7 billion tenge. 1,384 commercial vehicles were delivered at Semipalatinsk SemAZ (-50.3%) with a value of 17.3 billion tenge. In Kokshetau, KAMAZ-Engineering produced 809 trucks (-14.2%). Hyundai Trans produced 704 trucks and buses (+29.4%). 157 and 124 buses were produced at QazTehna and Daewoo Bus Kazakhstan plants, respectively.
Earlier it was reported that Kazakhstan imported more cars from the United States, Japan and other countries. In six months, Kazakhstan imported 3,420 cars from the United States, 7,208 from Japan and 2,726 from South Korea. For comparison: in the same period of 2021, 1,608 vehicles were imported from the U.S., 3,743 from Japan and 1,811 from South Korea. in August, Kazakhstan’s car production is growing against the background of global car shortages. In most cases, Chevrolet, Hyundai and Kia are assembled in Kazakhstan.
